Angels in the outfield, but we need them more at bat!

Attended last night’s Angels vs. KC Royals game and had a great little time.  I’d forgotten how fun an impromptu trip to see our boys in red can be… and a weekday 7pm game is a perfect time to finish off a hectic Monday, change into an appropriate Angels outfit (cuz that’s what really matters with us fashionista type sports loving gals) and head on over to the big “A” to catch up on America’s favorite pastime.  It made the craziness of a Monday seem like it was just another hectic weekend day when you cap it off with an Angel dog and a beer! (Could have done without sleeping through my alarm this morning because I went to bed quite late though).

OK so here’s the nuts n bolts of it all:  Angels kicked off a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals with a 6-3 win, finally closing up a tie in the bottom of the 8th with an exciting hit by Kendrys Morales with all bases loaded. Mike Trout did his thing, Kendry did his thing… and the later part of the game was pretty fun to watch (if it could keep my attention span interested, you know it was good!)  For the nitty gritty on the stats and expert commentary read here.

Now I must confess… I hadn’t been to an Angel’s game in almost forever and  while I’d known about all the Pujols hype, I had to keep asking myself  “OK, why does he get paid $240 million over the next 10 yrs.??” – Meaning I wasn’t all that impressed with the famed 1st base player. OK, so he was really great at playing his position on the field… but he struck out almost every time he was at bat!  Seems to me like if your gonna make that cool $12 million your first year here.. you at least better be able to bring in some RBI’s.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a Pujols Hater, in fact, I have much respect for any player and especially one that has no problems shedding light on his Christian and family values/lifestyle (Thank you Tim Tebow!), but I would like to see his batting improve so that the haters can stop hating, and those of us neutrals can fall in love with him even more.. OC needs a real superstar baseball player here (no hard feelings Mike Trout, maybe when you age up in a couple of years. (Just sayin 🙂  )
